Getting to Lake Bled

Lake Bled is approximately 180 km from Zagreb, about a 3-hour drive through beautiful countryside. The journey passes through Ljubljana and continues northwest into the Alpine foothills.

Visit Bled Island

The tiny island in the middle of the lake is home to the Church of the Assumption. Reach it by traditional pletna boat (a flat-bottomed wooden vessel) and climb the 99 stone steps to the church. Legend says ringing the wishing bell will make your dreams come true.

Bled Castle

Perched on a 130-meter cliff overlooking the lake, Bled Castle is one of the oldest castles in Slovenia. The museum inside tells the story of the region, and the views from the terrace are absolutely spectacular.

Walk Around the Lake

The 6-kilometer path around Lake Bled is perfect for a leisurely walk. Stop at various viewpoints to admire the ever-changing perspectives of the island and castle.

The Famous Bled Cream Cake

No visit to Bled is complete without trying kremšnita, the famous Bled cream cake. This heavenly dessert of vanilla cream and whipped cream sandwiched between crispy pastry layers has been made at the Park Hotel since 1953.
